HOUSTON — Thousands of women will gather for the first Women of Faith “Unwrap the Bible” Feb. 21-22 at Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church.
The live, in-depth Bible study will feature some of today's most renowned Bible teachers, including Beth Moore, Christine Caine, Priscilla Shirer, Sheila Walsh and Lisa Harper, together on one platform for the first time.
Organizers said women from Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and as far as away as Hawaii have made plans to attend the event.
Each speaker will focus on a specific woman from the Bible and how her story brings to light God's promises and gifts from Scripture to be unwrapped for women today.
Author and Bible teacher Moore will introduce Hagar, the “other woman” in Old Testament patriarch Abraham's life, for a lesson with very modern applications. Inspirational speaker and anti-human trafficking advocate Caine will explore the life of Sarah, Abraham's wife, unwrapping the gift of faith. As a wife and mom with a master's degree in biblical studies, Shirer will focus on Mary, the mother of Jesus, and what women can learn from her authenticity.
As a communicator through song, the written word, speaking and television, Walsh will bring her many talents to unwrap the story of the brave Queen Esther, sharing how women can discover the courage to do what they are created to do. Author and theologian Harper will unwrap the promises in the story of a disabled woman who found healing for her body and soul, and what the story means for women today.
In addition to the in-depth Bible study, worship pastor and recording artist Kari Jobe will lead musical worship and praise throughout the event. The program will also include video clips from Mark Burnett and Roma Downey's “The Bible” miniseries, illustrating stories from the Scriptures.
Registration prices range from $49 to $99. Parking at the church is free.
