NORMAN — The Oklahoma women’s basketball team added 6-foot-4 center McKenna Treece to its 2014 signing class, the school announced Monday.
Treece originally signed with Kansas State, but was granted a release by the school after coach Deb Patterson was fired and replaced by Jeff Mittie.
The Incarnate Word (St. Louis) Academy product averaged 10 points and 4.9 rebounds as a senior last season, when her team won its third Missouri Class 4A state championship in the last four years.
“We are so excited that McKenna will be joining our Oklahoma basketball family,” OU coach Sherri Coale said in a news release. “She was an immediate fit with our players, and she will fill an immediate need for us on the court.”
Treece was the 16th-rated post player in the ESPN HoopGurlz 100.
