Women's golf: OU to host 24-team NCAA Central Regional

The Sooners are seeded No. 2 behind Duke in the regional, which will be a 54-hole event.

Oklahoma will host a 24-team regional for the NCAA Women's Golf Championships on May 9-11 at the Jimmie Austin OU Course in Norman.

The Sooners are seeded No. 2 behind Duke in the Central Regional, which will be a 54-hole event. The low eight teams and low two individuals not on an advancing team from each regional will move on to the finals, to be held May 21-24 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga.

OU is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Big 12 Championships in Rhodes, Iowa. The Sooners have won a school-record-tying three tournaments and finished in second place in three others.

Other Big 12 teams that qualified for NCAA Regionals are Baylor, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas and Texas Tech.  Iowa State, TCU and Texas Tech will compete in Norman.
