Those original “Special Missions” are being collected in trade paperbacks, also from IDW. IDW has collected the entire original “G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero” run from Marvel Comics in 15 trade paperbacks. The writer of that series, Larry Hama, writes a continuation, “G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero” for IDW. Former Oklahoman S.L. Gallant is the regular artist of the “Real American Hero” series.

G.I. Joe: Roots of Retaliation

This trade paperback reprints the Hama-written G.I. Joe issues from the Marvel Comics run that are most similar to the new film. The first comic book appearances of Roadblock, Duke, Flint and Lady Jaye are included, as is a special issue featuring the original G.I. Joe, Joe Colton. Issue No. 21, a very popular issue of the series that introduced the Arashikage Clan, is featured.

G.I. Joe Movie Prequel: Retaliation

This adventure set in the movie continuity leading up to the events of the film features the G.I. Joes Snake Eyes and Roadblock facing off against Storm Shadow.
