Are the stars aligning for the U.S. National Team?

Ghana has announced that Michael Essien and Kevin Prince Boateng, two of the team's best players, are not in the starting lineup for the game against the U.S. today in each team's World Cup opener.

Boateng scored the first goal for Ghana when it eliminated the U.S. from the 2012 World Cup in South Africa.

The Ghana news comes on the heels of the U.S. getting another gift from Portugal earlier Monday. The Portuguese will be without starting central defender Pepe against the U.S. on Sunday, as Pepe was issued a red card and sent off for a headbutt on Germany's Thomas Muller.
