U.S. forward Jozy Altidore's World Cup is in doubt as the Americans head into a critical game against Portugal on Sunday.

Altidore will miss the second game of the U.S.'s World Cup campaign with a hamstring injury. He only lasted into the 21st minute of the U.S.'s 2-1 win over Ghana Monday before having to be carried off.

"He will not be available for Sunday's game, but we are hopeful he will be available in the tournament," U.S. Soccer spokesman Michael Kammarman said of the 24-year-old.

Kammarman said that defender Matt Besler (hamstring) and forward Clint Dempsey (nose) should be available against Portugal. Besler was substituted at halftime against Ghana as a precaution, and Dempsey was kicked in the face in the second half, but stayed in the game.
