The Netherlands dropped Puerto Rico 7-2 on Friday at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium to improve to 3-0 in the World Cup of Softball. The Netherlands face undefeated Team USA at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Netherlands coach Craig Montvidas is readying his team for a tough ballgame.

“We know we're playing a good team, and we're going to have to play very well to beat them,” he said.

The Netherlands' lineup includes Nathalie Timmermans, who played collegiately at Oklahoma City University and then the University of Central Oklahoma. She helped UCO post its best softball season in school history in 2012. The Bronchos went deep into the NCAA Tournament.

Australia strung together a five-run sixth inning en route to a 7-6 victory against Canada during Day 2 of the World Cup of Softball. Team Canada scored a run in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game at six but was beaten by the Aussie bats late.

“We've been working on our belief to try to get across the line against the better teams,” Aussie coach Kere Johnson said. “We surrendered the lead twice in that game and ended up winning it. I'm really happy with the character of this team.”
