Wrestling: Former OSU standout Chris Perry wins silver at University World Championships

For the second time in as many days a former Oklahoma State wrestling star shined in freestyle at the University World Championships in Pecs, Hungary.

Chris Perry won three matches on Wednesday before falling 5-3 to Piotr Ianulov of Moldova in the championship match at 189 pounds. Perry’s second-place finish comes one day after former teammate Tyler Caldwell won gold at 163 pounds.

Perry capped his OSU career in March with a second consecutive national title, defeating Oklahoma’s Andrew Howe at 174 pounds. He also defeated Howe to in the finals at the Big 12 Tournament to win a fourth conference title.

The Stillwater native was a four-time state champion for the Pioneers from 2006-09.
