Week fiveA couple weeks ago, I weighed in and found that I’d lost two pounds. Last week, I lost four more. This week? Another two.
Two pounds I can visualize. I just think of a couple packs of ground beef at a grocery store. But I was having a hard time picturing the difference in weight between 307, where I started out, and 292, where I am now. Then I found out about the Belly Buster burger at Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub in Clearfield, Pa. "It has everything,” said Jenn Grimm, floor manager. "Literally everything: bun, meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, banana pepper rings, ketchup, mustard, relish, pickles and mayo.” Sound good? You might want to hold off on ordering. "The burger itself weighs 15 pounds,” Grimm said. "Once it’s decked out, it actually weighs about 22 pounds.” I’ve seen photographs of this sandwich. It’s terrifying. Each half of the bun is about as big around as a large pizza and probably 2 inches thick. The meat overhangs the bun and is about 3 inches thick. I have no idea how they manage to cook it all the way through. Most of the toppings are hidden beneath — or perhaps smashed by — that gigantic beef patty, although molten cheese can be seen atop it, shining like bald spots amid the grease. A 15-pound disk of ground beef isn’t a sandwich. Fat-to-fit Blog
