WSGA Amateur Tournament: 20 players to watch

The top amateur women’s golfers in an 11-state region will compete for the 99th annual Women’s Southern Golf Association title this week at Gaillardia Country Club.

Tezica Abe (Arlington, Texas): Standout junior currently plays for the University of Texas.

Shannon Aubert (Championsgate, Fla.): A freshman at Stanford University.

Maggie Beth Byers (San Antonio): Just completed her freshman year at Baylor.

Chelsea Buford (San Antonio): Plays at the College of Charleston.

Kailey Campbell (Oktaha): Owns the lowest handicap among six OCU players in the field.

Evelyn Doyle (Raleigh, N.C.): The 2012 junior medalist, Doyle plays at the University of Virginia.

LeeAnn Fairlie (Oklahoma City): The Oklahoma Golf Hall of Famer was the 1986 WSGA runner-up and is the reigning WOGA senior champion.

Caroline Goodin (Deer Creek): A former WOGA junior champion, Goodin is one of six OCU players who will play on their home course.

Jennifer Hays (Edmond): Was the 2013 Oklahoma medalist at the USGA Mid-Am qualifier.

Emee Herbert (Johns Creek, Ga.): The 2012 WSGA champion plays at Coastal Carolina.
