Yanga-Mbiwa in France squad for injured Varane

PARIS (AP) — France coach Didier Deschamps has called up Newcastle center half Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa for Wednesday's friendly against Germany after Raphael Varane picked up a right hamstring injury in Real Madrid's 1-0 loss away to Grenada on Saturday night.

The French Football Federation said on its website late Sunday that tests revealed a small muscle tear and France team doctors agreed with their Real Madrid counterparts that Varane needs to rest.
Yanga-Mbiwa has won three caps for France.
