As he approaches a massive payday in free agency, New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano has aligned himself with one of the team’s highest-profile patrons, rapper-turned-mogul Jay-Z.


Cano has fired his agent Scott Boras and signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, which has partnered with the Creative Artists Agency. The maneuver represents a potentially positive development for the Yankees, who engaged in tepid contract negotiations with Cano this spring.
