— Fifty young dancers from across the state — as well as from Arkansas, Florida, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas and Washington — concluded a two-week, intensive training program Saturday with a public performance at the Donald W. Reynolds Performing Arts Center at the University of Oklahoma in Norman.

The students of SummerWind Youth Ballet, ages 11 to 18 years old, received instruction in ballet, pointe, jazz, modern and modern improvisations such as flamenco.

The students also attended lectures on topics ranging from injury prevention to nutrition and stage makeup.

SummerWind Youth Ballet is sponsored annually by the OU School of Dance.

The program is under the direction of Director Mary Margaret Holt, coordinator Rebecca Herrin and assistant coordinator Charlotte Hart.
