Young people thanked World War II veterans for their service

Published: June 15, 2012

On June 6, the anniversary of D-Day, I had the privilege of being on the Honor Flight from Oklahoma City to Washington, D.C., with 101 other veterans from World War II. At both airports we met young men and women from local high school ROTC, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and other groups who wished us well, taking time from other activities to shake our hands and say a few words thanking us for our service.

So often we read or hear negative things about our younger generation. This is my opportunity to let everyone know that we have great young men and women with good futures ahead of them. No doubt, the country will be in capable hands as our younger generation comes of age. I want to thank all those young people I met. I know their parents are very proud of them. God bless you!
