Your Life: Make life matter

Charlotte Lankard: It often takes something drastic like a relationship ending or someone dying for us to wake up and examine our lives and ourselves.

The season is upon us

with dangers of regret.

There are no dress rehearsals here

One chance is all you get.

The season is upon us

So let us do it right.

Remember who you want to be

And love with all your might.

The season is upon us,

but in a blink it's gone.

So make each moment matter

for memories live on.

As we move into a new year, let us be reminded once again that life is not to be taken for granted. Let's notice how we spend our days. Are we on automatic — in a rut, just performing daily trivia — or do we come to each day mindful that it will not come again and a desire to make it matter?

This is important because how we spend our days, of course, is how we spend our lives.
