Youth in recovery to be focus on local documentary

The Oklahoma City Museum of Art will screen “12: Promises,” a locally produced documentary about teen recovery, on Wednesday at 7.

Youth in recovery is the focus of a locally produced film that will be screened Wednesday at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.

“12: Promises,” produced by the 12 Recovery Foundation, examines the strategies and solutions to the problems confronting teens as they transition from the first steps of recovery into re-establishing their lives.

It is a follow-up to the foundation's first documentary “12: Is There Life After Rehab in Recovery?”

The screening starts at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $8 for adults, and $6 for children and adults older than 62.

The screenings will be followed by a moderated panel discussion with Kelly Dyer Fry, editor of The Oklahoman and vice president of news for OPUBCO Communications Group; Peter J. Messiah, director of the Oklahoma City University Addiction Prevention Studies Program; and Terri White, commissioner of the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

The 12 Recovery Foundation, based in Oklahoma City, has a mission to be a voice for youth recovery.
