Youth Services for Oklahoma County will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a Where Were You in '72 party on Tuesday.
From 4 to 6 p.m., the nonprofit agency will host guests and serve refreshments during a 1970s-themed party at the Family Junction Youth Shelter, 201 NE 50.
The group is asking people to bring a canned food item or two to help provide food for the children it serves. Community leaders, program graduates and Youth Services board members are expected to attend, but the public is welcome to come and hear more about the agency.
Youth Services provides counseling and behavioral and educational programs designed to foster self-esteem and resiliency, according to a news release.
Helping homeless teens graduate from high school has been one of its main goals since it began. Since 1998, that support has come from Youth Services' Supporting Kids in Independent Living (SKIL) program, and the Family Junction Youth Shelter has space for as many as 18 teens at a time.
