Wednesday was a happy birthday all around for a Yukon family.
At 1 a.m., Lindsay Cowan was in labor. Accompanied by her husband, Cory, and her mother, Robin Lippe, the three arrived at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. As they entered the emergency area, to their surprise right behind them came Lindsay's sister-in-law, Kimberly Lippe. She also was in labor. "Here comes Kim walking in at the exact same time,” Robin Lippe said. "We thought we were seeing things.” Kimberly Lippe drove herself to the hospital because her husband, Kyle, Robin Lippe's son, was on his way home from work when she went into labor. Lindsay Cowan was due Oct. 3 and Kimberly Lippe had a C-section scheduled for Oct. 7. But at 2:51 a.m., Kooper Richard Lippe was born, and at 6:08 a.m. Belle Elaine Cowan was born. "That'll probably never happen again,” Cory Cowan said of the sister-in-law coincidence. If that wasn't enough, it was a birthday of sorts for the hospital. On Sept. 24, 1827, 181 years ago, Catherine McAuley founded the first House of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland. "It's a big day for all of us,” said Nancy Woodard, Mercy Health Center spokeswoman. And, oh yeah, one more thing. Wednesday also was Robin Lippe's 52nd birthday. "It's a nice birthday present for me,” Lippe said.
