Yukon theater presents play about Vietnam era

The play “A Piece of My Heart” highlights the emotional toll of the war. It will be presented by the Stage Door theater in Yukon.

A play about the Vietnam era will be performed at the Stage Door theater in Yukon.

“A Piece of My Heart” transports the audience back to a time when men and women did not always willingly go to fight in what proved to be a controversial war.

The Stage Door is at 601 Oak. Cast members are actors from the Oklahoma City area. The play is directed by Denise Harris.

The play made its premier in New York at the Manhattan Theatre Club and earned a strong review from The New York Times.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $9 in advance and $12 at the door. Tickets can be bought in advance online at www.stagedooryukon.com or by calling Stage Door at 265-1590 (leave a message).

Veterans and members of the armed services can attend free on Thursday.
