— Matt Cammon's prayers were answered.

Cammon provided the sticky defense that helped Yukon hang on for a 21-19 win over Norman on Friday at Miller Stadium. Cammon defended Norman's George Carter as the Tigers' potential game-tying two-point conversion pass with 44 seconds left dropped incomplete.

Sayvon Foley scored on a 28-yard touchdown pass out of Jaykob Dean's throw to cut Yukon's lead to two points in the final minute. Norman drove 99 yards after getting the ball with 4:31 left in the game. Dean completed 5 of 9 passes for 75 yards on the march.

Dean threw the conversion pass over Carter's shoulder, and Cammon wasn't far behind.

“I prayed before that play,” said Cammon, a senior cornerback. “They had their two big backs on my side, so I knew either the safety, linebacker or I had to make a play. It came to me, so I made the play. I got a hand on his chest so that the when the ball came it hit my hand and his chest at the same time. It went through his hands.”

Norman attempted an onside kick, but Yukon's Nick Bryant snagged the ball and stayed on it at midfield. Yukon ran the clock out. Both Norman, ranked seventh in Class 6A, and Yukon went to 2-1 on the year.

Quarterback Hayden Somerville rallied Yukon from a 13-7 deficit with a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown throws.

Somerville propelled Yukon on an 80-yard scoring drive that ended with his 34-yard touchdown aerial to Caelan Groce. The Millers led 14-13 with 10:25 left in the contest.
