Zombies to Invade Downtown

by Steve Lackmeyer Published: June 27, 2013

I love the Peacock restaurant at Reno and Walker. The food (I love the baked chicken and rice soup) provides some great healthy eating options, which I always obviously need. I think the world of the Pagonis family, and I love the history of the family and their establishment.

I never considered it before, but they also have large parking lots that make their block ideal for an outdoor festival. Now we’ll get to find out if I’m right.

The younger Pagonis, John (not really that young – he’s my age) has gotten involved with a haunted house in Guthrie – Guthrie Haunts, and is now launching a “Zombie Bolt” to raise money for those affected by the tornadoes that devastated the metro last month. I consider John a friend – so why didn’t he tell me about this fun festival set for this weekend outside the Peacock? Fortunately, I’m also friends with Scott Lancaster, whose kids have gone to school with my son since they were in kindergarten.

This event is for the whole family and will include, live music, Zombie makeup, Light show, zombie walk and a hearse parade as well as activities for the kids.  They pledge that all funds will go to the tornado relief effort, with adult tickets costing $10 and kids’ tickets costing $5.

And if you see John … tell him I’m going to get Mike at the Peacock to give him all sorts of grief. Because no one is better at promotion than Mike.
