ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — City officials are holding a special conference aimed at fighting bed bugs in Albuquerque.

The Albuquerque Environmental Health Department is scheduled to hold the conference Wednesday at the South Broadway Cultural Center.

Officials say the conference will focus on bed bug biology, control measures and information on preventing and detecting infestations.

The deputy director of the Environmental Health Department, Mark DiMenna, says city officials recognize that there's a bed bug problem in Albuquerque and officials are working to fight the problem.

The conference is open to the public.
