Oklahoma City University School of Theatre to honor five graduates

Oklahoma City University's School of Theatre to inaugurate a Theatre Hall of Honor with a dinner that will honor five graduates.

Oklahoma City University's School of Theatre will honor five graduates for their work in the arts during its inaugural Hall of Honor ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday in the atrium of OCU's Bass School of Music, 2501 N Blackwelder. The ceremony is part of the School of Theatre's 90th anniversary season.

Donald “Don” Jordan is a 35-year veteran of professional theater who has performed in 48 states and Canada. He appeared in the national touring production of the musical “42nd Street” and was featured in the off-Broadway production of “Out at Sea.” He was founding artistic director of the Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre and continues to oversee its productions. Jordan earned a bachelor's degree in theater from OCU and holds a master of fine arts degree from Trinity University.

Lakshmi Manchu has been in feature films in India and the U.S. and runs a production company with her father that has produced 49 feature films. Manchu has guest starred in several television series including the recurring role of Sarasvati Kumar on the NBC drama “Las Vegas,” as well as “Boston Legal” and “Desperate Housewives.” Manchu holds a degree in theater from OCU and continued her studies at USC for film production.

Cathy O'Donnell, born Ann Steely in Alabama in 1923, worked as a secretary for the Army induction center but eventually quit her job and studied acting at OCU. After moving to Hollywood, she changed her name to O'Donnell and began a 20-year career in film. Among her successes are “The Best Years of Our Lives” and “Ben Hur.” O'Donnell also starred on television in “Perry Mason” and “Bonanza.” She died in 1970.
