Baylor defensive end Shawn Oakman brought the confidence on Monday at Big 12 Media Days.

Oakman wasn't surprised at the Bears being picked second in the league by the media.

"Because we're Baylor," Oakman told the Tulsa World. "That comes with being Baylor. Life's not fair. Life's not fair at all, you know? To live is to struggle. To survive is to find meaning in the struggle. That's all it is.

"We're gonna be great one day and y'all are gonna notice."

Oakman didn't exactly put much stock in Oklahoma's whipping of Alabama in the Sugar Bowl as evidence of the Sooners' improvement.

"You realize if it's not the national championship, Alabama don't even care who they play," Oakman said before saying Baylor should beat the Sooners this year when the teams meet on Nov. 8 in Norman.

"That game from OU last year, that should have showed you that that product was nowhere near as good as the product that Baylor was putting on the field," Oakman told the paper. "The execution, the players from each and every position ... You could tell we were on a different level from OU. Just straight out."
