NEW YORK — A black Columbia University teacher who reported finding a noose on her door is suing the New York City school for firing her after a plagiarism investigation.

Clinical psychology professor Madonna G. Constantine argues in papers filed Friday in state Supreme Court that her discharge was arbitrary, irrational and unauthorized.

She wants the court to reverse her firing. Columbia spokeswoman Marcia Horowitz says she hasn’t seen the lawsuit and cannot comment.

Constantine reported finding a noose on her office door last fall. Police said they never learned who put it there.

From talking with an African American professor at O.U., there is a problem in academia where universities prefer to hire African professors in lieu of hiring African Americans. It fulfills the Affirmative Action requirements of the institution but does nothing about employing American Black people. If you look at most colleges you will find an abundance of Nigerian instructors and professors. Just look at O.U. where a majority of the Black instructors are not of U.S. citizenry. You would think that as long as you hire a Black person to teach you have fulfilled AA. But the whole idea of AA was to put U.S. Black people to work across the board in all industries at all income levels. Colleges sidestepped the issue by picking people who do not live in the USA and would be beholden to the university from day 1. It creates a lot of bitterness in the ranks. For O.U., they get to gloat about their AA record and get to reap the benefits of complicity of its teaching staff.
