"Green collar” jobs are hot and expected to stay hot even as the economy continues to cool.

That’s Kelly Parker’s take on it and he should know — he’s hiring a couple more employees at Guaranteed Watt Saver.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other science.

Traits/skills: Business sense; expertise and experience in construction methods, techniques, materials.

Salary: $35,000 to $55,000 a year.

Entry-level inspector

Education: High school, vocational-technical training in construction trades, particularly framing and heating, ventilation and air-conditioning.

Traits/skills: Expertise and experience in construction methods, techniques, materials; detail oriented.

Pay: $10 an hour to start, $15 to 20 an hour with two to three years experience.
