Riverwind trims poker hours

Riverwind Casino is closing its poker room from 3:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. due to a lack of players. This will impact 33 workers, a spokeswoman said. They will be given the opportunity to move to other job at Riverwind or other Oklahoma casinos operated by the Chickasaw Nation by Jan. 5.

Chamber honors 5 lawmakers

The State Chamber of Oklahoma honored five state legislators Tuesday for commitment to Oklahoma's economy. The awards were given during the State Chamber's annual Public Affairs Forum. Senate President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman, House Speaker T.W. Shannon, Sen. Anthony Sykes and Rep. Leslie Osborn each received the Guardian of Free Enterprise Award for their efforts to pass workers' compensation reform legislation. Rep. Jon Echols received the Rising Star Award, which is given to a freshman legislator who plays a significant role in advancing pro-growth legislation and policies.
