Oklahoma City Thunder release Kyle Weaver

FROM STAFF REPORTS Modified: July 30, 2010 at 11:09 am •  Published: July 30, 2010
Thunder backup guard Kyle Weaver didn't survive the recent acquisition of Royal Ivey.

General manager Sam Presti announced Thursday the team has waived Weaver, a second-round pick out of Washington State in 2008 who spent the last two seasons with the Thunder and with the Tulsa 66ers of the developmental league.

Weaver played a total of 68 games (19 starts) with the Thunder and had career averages of 4.9 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 0.8 steals in 19.3 minutes.

Weaver's departure was anticipated. When the Thunder acquired the defensive-minded Ivey on July 21, it left the roster one over the 15-man limit.
