There is word that former Sooner catcher J.T. Wise
has signed with the Dodgers, although nothing has been confirmed.
Still, expect the Big 12 Player of the Year to wind up in Dodger blue. The club thought enough of Wise as a senior that it used its fifth-round pick on him, despite his status as an older player with little if any leverage.
"(Other teams are) probably scratching their heads at us taking a senior catcher in the top five rounds, because we’ve never done that,” Logan White,
Dodgers assistant general manager of scouting, told MLB.com. "But I certainly like this kid... I just like how he swings his bat and goes about the game.”
While Blake Griffin
waits on the NBA Draft, OU’s outgoing seniors are considering their pro basketball options.
has already signed with a Swedish team, while Omar Leary
is talking with teams in Europe.
has been working out with brother Blake in San Francisco, again going through the grinding workouts of renowned trainer Frank Matrisciano,
who was instrumental in preparing the Griffins last summer. Taylor hopes to get a shot in the NBA and is a possible second-round pick in the Draft.
At ESPN.com, Taylor is ranked as the No. 81-rated prospect. Still, second-round projections are quite fluid, and some scouts like Taylor’s athleticism, intelligence and willingness to play defense and be a role player.
