Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics agents used a reverse sting operation to identify a Ponca City criminal defense attorney who was arrested Wednesday with an ounce of cocaine, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Thursday.

Gale Eugene McArthur II, 42, was arrested about 8 p.m. Wednesday in a Ponca City Walmart parking lot on complaints of trafficking cocaine, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony and use of a communication device in the commission of a felony, Ponca City police spokeswoman Sherry Bowers said.

McArthur will be charged today or Monday, said Mark Gibson, Kay County district attorney.

An ounce of cocaine was found in McArthur's jacket pocket when he was arrested, according to the affidavit.

McArthur was freed on $100,000 bail. Numerous attempts to reach him by telephone Thursday were unsuccessful.
