Report shows Oklahoma oil industry's struggles in 2009

Oklahoma has a rich history as an oil and natural gas producing state, but 2009 wasn't its best year.

The state's production numbers were roughly on par with prior years, but drilling applications — which observers say is a good way to gauge the state of the industry — plummeted last year, according to the Oklahoma Corporation 's annual report on oil and gas activity in the state for 2009.
