Larry Neeley, 35, was arrested Tuesday on a first-degree murder complaint in the death of Jason Hall.

A medical examiner's report shows the child died from a blunt force trauma to the abdomen with a laceration to his liver, Ashley said.

Medical personnel were called to the child's residence about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday where they found the child unresponsive in his bedroom, he said. The child was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital, where he died.

Neeley told authorities the child's mother left for work about 7:55 a.m. He also told police that while pulling the toddler off a bunk bed ladder, the child hit the side of a dresser and then struck the ground while Neely grabbed his arm, Ashley said.
